We know that watching kids shows aren’t necessarily the most fun of activities, you just grow out of certain shows as you grow older and become more accustomed to other genres. What can never be taken away however, is the nostalgia of watching some of the TV shows we loved watching as children. Some shows from the 90s decade are timeless, they are classics that would still be relevant and enjoyable today. Lucky for you, we have composed a list of shows that you would love to re-watch, to recapture that youthlike memory, while your children will be equally entertained! Look below and discover just which of these shows we are talking about.
Rugrats
An animated show which ran from 1991 up until 2004, Rugrats is a classic that was beloved by all. We loved watching the adventures of Tommy and co, toddlers living their day-to-day lives, letting their imaginations run away with them to create some interesting storylines. The show tackled strong themes while being super enjoyable. There were even spin-off movies, such as The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats in Paris and Rugrats Go Wild (A crossover with the Wild Thornberrys). The show currently has an unfair 7.4 rating on IMDB, but we can guarantee that your children will love it.
Dexter’s Laboratory
Dexter’s Lab is another American animated great which first featured on Cartoon Network. The show followed boy genius Dexter who has a concealed laboratory inside his bedroom, secret from his parents. Dexter is often interrupted during his experiments by sister Dee Dee, who seems to hinder his process in a very comical fashion. Certain rivalries and side characters complement the humor of the show and it is definitely one for all the family. The show ran from 1996 until 2003, producing 78 episodes (which comprises of 220 segments). So even though it is finished, there is still plenty of Dexter to keep your children occupied.
Recess
Recess holds a strong IMDB rating of 7.8/10, and rightly so! This is surely one of Disney’s most classic and notorious shows of the 90s. The show centers around six fourth-graders and their daily struggles in school, often acting as the hero-kids, saving others from a unfortunate fate. Don’t think too badly though, that fate might be keeping clean for picture day, winning a dodgeball tournament; all kinds of events that at school felt so important, but in actuality weren’t so much. The show is very entertaining and we loved watching TJ (leader of the group) work with his friends to solve all these issues. A show we can guarantee that your kids will love.
Johnny Bravo
Johnny Bravo is one of the first faces that anyone surely thinks of when you think about Cartoon Network. The man was the face of the network for a long, long period and is notorious for his womanizing and comical ways. Bravo is loosely based on the personality of Elvis Presley and is very muscular, wears sunglasses but lives with his mother. This combo often renders him unsuccessful in enticing women, but the bizarre situations make us laugh a lot. Featuring many celebrity guests, adults will love the show too due to the subtle adult humor and pop culture references.
The Powerpuff Girls
Another face of the Cartoon Network, the Powerpuff girls were inspiring to young girls, while just as enjoyable for every single kid too. The show followed the activities of Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles, kindergarten aged children with superhero abilities. The girls live in fictional Townsville with their creator/father Professor Utonium. Often the girls are called upon by the mayor to save the town criminals. The show ran from 1998 until 2005 and was a true classic. The show scored a 7.3 rating on IMDB and battled rivals from burglars to aliens, they were fearless.
Courage The Cowardly Dog
Courage was a beloved pup on the Cartoon Network and the show’s IMDB rating speaks for itself, sitting at a very respectable 8.2! The show ran from 1996 until 2002 and follows an anthropomorphic dog living with an elderly couple in a farmhouse. They constantly find themselves in bizarre situations and follows a very sweet but cowardly dog in a world full of supernatural adventure, surreal humor and comedy. The show has received many award nominations and is a classic that the kids will certainly love.
