The month of October is here! Do you know what that means? Halloween is creeping closer and will be here before we know it. With all the candy treats, jack -lanterns, delicious food, and all Halloween costumes and decor, there is plenty to do at the festive time of year. One of the best activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family yet is sometimes forgotten, is watching spine-tingling, spooky films. To help you get organized, we’ve put together the perfect list of films – obviously, both age-appropriate and Halloween inspired. Hotel Transylvania
The first animation film on our list is Hotel Transylvania. The characters in the movies will certainly be loved by all, and the main one is Dracula. He owns a high-end resort for monsters and throughout the film does he his absolute best to keep his daughter from falling in love with a human, named Jonathan. The movie is recommended for children aged 7+.
Corpse Bride
This Oscar-nominated stop-motion movie was actually released in 2005, so for those who haven’t yet seen it – you and your family should definitely do so! The film follows the story about a young man who accidentally marries a ghost while reciting his own wedding vows in the woods. Gothic- romance is completely redefined when Victors new ‘bride’, Emily whisks him off to the land of the dead. It has been reviewed as, ‘brilliant, interesting and outstanding’. The film is mostly suited for kids who are slightly older, 10+.
The Addams Family
Our next movie of choice is, The Addams Family. And with this amazing film, you have two great options. Depending on how old your children are, you have the choice of the original movie, alternatively, the most recently released one which is animated – either way, both are excellent! The dark comedy will have you and your family wanting to watch it every Halloween. Both feature an all-star cast so you’re in for a treat!
Casper
Casper has certainly got to be the best one here. It’s a classic that never gets old, and not to mention tightly entertaining. So, what is it about? A ghost therapist is hired to help deal with some unfished ghost business in a mansion. After watching the film, you will easily understand why so many children fall in love with Casper himself. The film is generally suitable for children aged 8+.
Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble
Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble is a major throwback! Going back to the days when the young Olsen twins were movie stars. This Halloween movie is so adorable and is perfect for the younger kids. The cute blonde duo is set on a mission to use their magic and save their family homes. The younger the viewer the more they will very much enjoy it, however, parents will appreciate some of the sweet moments as well.
