We all know how much kids love grilled cheese. Honestly, who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese sandwich? It’s the perfect comfort food! Anyways, when the kids ask you if you could make them one, don’t just make the boring old kind and be done with it. Give them the best of the best! Not to mention, you’ll enjoy it, too. Don’t worry, though, this recipe isn’t unnecessarily complicated and the ingredients aren’t some kind of expensive or exclusive products. They’re just cheese, bread and butter. The big difference is how you make the sandwiches rather than what you put inside it. Of course, you can always get creative and add all kinds of delicious toppings inside along the cheeses. But for now, we’re gonna show you how to make the classic American grilled cheese. Not to mention, if your kids are old enough, you can always teach them how to make this themselves for future reference!
The Ingredients You’ll Need
- Sliced white American cheese
- Sliced yellow American cheese
- Softened butter (you can use either salted or unsalted)
- Sliced white bread
- Cheddar cheese (optional)
How To Make It
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Each sandwich will get a slice of white American cheese and one slice of yellow American cheese. Put the cheese on the unbuttered side and heat a pan on medium heat. Place the sandwich in and put a metal bowl on top to press it down. Cook for 2-3 minutes and flip. Place the metal bowl again and let cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden. If you really want to go that extra mile, feel free to add the cheddar cheese inside when putting in the other cheeses. It’ll add much more flavor!
